It's always the right season

Lapland weddings, all year round.

Each season brings a different texture: snow-quiet winters, awakening springs, endless midnight-sun summers, and ruska-gold autumns. We shape your celebration around the light, the weather, and the calendar you most want.

  • Pyhän Paavalin Kappeli at Saariselkä — a wooden fell chapel under thick snow at golden hour, snow-laden pine in centre frame

    Winter

A true Arctic fairytale: snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, glowing fireplaces, and the magic of the Northern Lights. Cosy luxury, unforgettable photography, once-in-a-lifetime winter ceremonies. December through March accounts for the majority of Lapland weddings.

  • Lapland spring scene — softening light over forest and water

    Spring

As daylight returns, Lapland awakens quietly. Crisp air, peaceful landscapes, untouched nature — intimacy, calm, authentic Nordic beauty away from the crowds. April and May are the calmest windows for elopements.

  • Midnight sun glow over a still Lapland lake at night

    Summer

Beneath the Midnight Sun, golden light stretches endlessly across the horizon. Vibrant nature, private lakeside experiences, outdoor dining, evenings that never truly become night. June through August unlocks comfortable temperatures and lower venue buyout costs.

  • Lapland autumn ruska — gold and red forest tones in low Arctic light

    Autumn

An explosion of Arctic colours — ruska — transforms the forests into gold, red and orange. The Northern Lights return in September, combining dramatic landscapes with cosy evenings, ice-cold air, and a soft, photographic palette.

Pielpajärven erämaakirkko — Finland's only wilderness church near Inari, lit windows and a green aurora curtain over the snow-covered Sámi sanctuary

Special places to say I do

Wilderness churches, fell chapels, festival tents.

Lapland is home to Finland's only wilderness church — Pielpajärven erämaakirkko near Inari, a 1760 log cross-church a 5 km hike from the nearest road, still hosting weddings every summer. We also work with fell chapels like Saariselkä's Pyhän Paavalin Kappeli, Tentipi event tents in the forest, glass igloos, and private lodges across the Arctic — whatever venue your ceremony deserves.

FAQ

Couples often ask

Straight answers on legal logistics, seasons, group size, weather contingency, photography and budget. If yours is missing, send it via the form below.

What are the legal requirements for foreigners to get married in Finland?
Finland does not require residency for foreigners to marry. The process is run by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV), which performs an Examination of Impediments to Marriage. For foreign nationals this typically requires three to five weeks, plus a Certificate of Right to Marry from your home country and an Apostille stamp on foreign public documents (EU member states use a multilingual standard form instead). Two witnesses over 15 must be present, and a professional interpreter is required if the couple does not understand Finnish, Swedish or English. We handle every step alongside you.
How far in advance should we start planning?
Premium glass igloo resorts and private lodges book 12 to 24 months ahead, and the legal impediments check takes a minimum of three to five weeks. We recommend 9 to 18 months for intimate weddings and 18 to 24 months for multi-day celebrations or full property buyouts. Shorter timelines are possible for elopements when our wilderness partners have availability — talk to us early.
What is the difference between a legal and a symbolic ceremony?
A legal ceremony is performed by a DVV officiant or judge after the impediments check is approved, and is recognised internationally. A symbolic ceremony — popular with international couples — sees the legal paperwork completed at your local town hall before travel, while Lapland hosts the celebratory event. Symbolic ceremonies remove the Apostille and translation overhead and give complete freedom over location, officiant and format.
When is the best time for a Northern Lights wedding?
Aurora sightings are strongest from late August through early April under dark, clear skies away from light pollution. December to March is the peak combination of snow scenery and active aurora, while September and October pair the Northern Lights with ruska autumn colours. We track solar forecasts and weather models to design your itinerary around the highest-probability viewing windows — but no one can guarantee a clear sky.
Can you handle Indian, Chinese or other multi-day cultural weddings?
Yes. We have produced multi-event weddings including Indian sangeet evenings and mehndi rituals in transparent heated mandaps, and East-Asian pre-wedding photography expeditions with multiple wardrobe changes across glass igloos, ice chapels and the Aurora. We brief in authentic vegetarian or regional menus, fly in specialised chefs when required, plan around culturally significant numbers and colours, and coordinate with your in-house planner end to end.
How cold does it get — and how do you keep guests comfortable?
Mid-winter daytime temperatures range from −5 °C to −25 °C; in February in inland Lapland −30 °C is possible. We arrange Arctic-grade outerwear and boots for the wedding party and guests, design heated arrival corridors at outdoor venues, and stage warming kotas and saunas alongside every ceremony. Indoor backup venues are pre-rigged with lighting and audio so the pivot is invisible to guests if a blizzard moves in.
What guest counts can you support?
Our packages run from a 2-guest Aurora Elopement through Intimate Wilderness Weddings (10–30 guests), Lodge Weddings (30–80 guests) and Multi-Day Estate or Property Buyouts (80–150 guests). Beyond 150 we work with private chartered aviation and large-venue partners such as Kakslauttanen Celebration House (250+) or SantaPark cavern for spectacle-scale events.
What does a Lapland destination wedding typically cost?
We design a transparent budget around your guest count, venue, and production ambition. Whether you are planning an intimate wilderness wedding, a lodge buyout, or a multi-day estate celebration, our team provides custom pricing for all venues and optional services, including private chefs and custom logistics.
Can we have an outdoor ceremony in deep winter?
Yes — outdoor ceremonies in snow chapels, glass teepees, frozen lakes and forest clearings are some of the most photographed moments we produce. The official ceremony stays short (10–20 minutes outdoors), with the reception moving into a heated venue. We always stage a fully rigged indoor backup so the day is not weather-dependent, and we provide Arctic-grade outerwear that photographs cleanly with formal wedding attire.
Which photographers and videographers do you work with?
We collaborate with editorial and cinematic photographers who specialise in low-light Arctic conditions, long-exposure aurora work, and sub-zero camera operation. Production-grade videography — heavy-lift drones, multi-camera rigs, mobile lighting, professional audio in wind — is delivered by the same infrastructure trusted by Apple TV+, ITV and MrBeast productions. Photography and film scope is priced from the crew, duration, editing and delivery requirements for each event.
Are same-sex weddings legal in Finland?
Yes. Same-sex marriage has been legal in Finland since March 2017. The DVV legal process and ceremony requirements are identical to opposite-sex marriages, and our team welcomes and plans same-sex weddings across the full set of packages and seasons.
How do we travel to Lapland for our wedding?
The main gateways are Ivalo (IVL) in the far north — closest to our home base and Saariselkä — Rovaniemi (RVN), and Kittilä (KTT) near Levi. Direct seasonal connections run from London, Paris, Frankfurt and several European hubs, and private aviation is handled at IVL up to Falcon 7X class. We coordinate every transfer from arrival ramp to ceremony venue, including helicopter, sleigh and snowmobile arrivals where the moment calls for it.
